NS Record & Transcribe · EDIT
Privacy Policy
The short version: NoiseSoft apps don't collect any personal data. Your recordings, transcripts and audio are created and stored only on your own iPhone or Mac. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
Who we are
NS Record & Transcribe (iPhone) and EDIT (Mac) are made by NoiseSoft, operated by Peter Smith. For anything about privacy, email us.
NS Record & Transcribe (iPhone)
What stays on your iPhone
- Recordings are saved inside the app on your iPhone. We never receive them.
- Transcription uses Apple's speech recognition in on-device mode only. The app requires on-device processing, so your audio isn't sent to Apple or to us for transcription. On iOS 26 or later, if you choose a spoken language that isn't on your iPhone yet, iOS downloads its speech model from Apple. That download contains none of your recordings or text.
- Translation uses Apple's on-device translation. The first time you use a language, iOS may download that language from Apple. That download is handled by iOS and contains none of your recordings or text.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting services and no third-party code that collects data. It doesn't connect to any NoiseSoft server.
Permissions
- Microphone is used only while you are recording.
- Speech recognition is used only to turn your recordings into text on your iPhone.
You can turn either permission off at any time in Settings › NS Record.
Files you import or share
Audio you import from Voice Memos, Files or other apps is copied into the app on your iPhone. When you export or share a transcript or recording, it goes only where you choose to send it, through the standard iOS share sheet.
Backups
If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, iOS includes the app's recordings and transcripts in that backup, as it does for other apps. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by NoiseSoft.
Deleting your data
Delete a recording from the Library (swipe left) or with Clear on the record screen. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Purchases
The app is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we don't receive your name, email or payment details. Apple's own privacy policy covers your App Store account.
Children
The app doesn't collect data from anyone, including children.
EDIT (Mac)
What stays on your Mac
All editing, effects, recording and exporting happen on your Mac. EDIT never uploads your audio and doesn't connect to the internet. It never changes your original files: your changes are written only when you export, to the place you choose.
What we collect
Nothing. EDIT has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting services and no third-party code that collects data.
Permissions
- Microphone is used only while you are recording.
- Files: EDIT can only open the files you choose. Recordings are saved to Music › EDIT Recordings, or to a folder you choose.
You can turn microphone access off at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
What EDIT keeps on your Mac
Your list of recent files, your export settings, and working copies of your edits, so EDIT can bring your work back after it quits or crashes. These stay inside EDIT on your Mac. Closing a file discards its working copy, and deleting EDIT removes everything it stored. Your recordings and exports are yours, and stay where they were saved.
Purchases
EDIT is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles payment, and we don't receive your name, email or payment details. Apple's own privacy policy covers your App Store account.
Children
EDIT doesn't collect data from anyone, including children.
This website
noisesoft.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and loads nothing from third parties (even the fonts are hosted here). Like all websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and protect the site. We don't use these logs to identify you.
When you email us
If you contact us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We don't add you to any mailing list. Ask us at any time to delete your messages, and we will.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR), you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data about you. Because our apps collect none, the only data we could hold is email you have sent us. Contact us to use these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If an app ever starts handling data differently, the policy will say so before that version is released.
